It's been a long time, hasn't it? I've been very busy over the past few months getting into school and wrapping up my time at the day job.

I was out of bed early this morning thanks to a terrible cough I've got, so I decided I'd take a crack at setting up Blosxom on rocketsofruby.com. I just put a test post up, and it's looking very default at the moment.

I've been getting used to WordPress at my day job over the past few weeks, and I was planning on using it to run the Rockets of Ruby blog until my friend DRT suggested that I try Blosxom instead. I have to say it's been a much simpler ride so far, and simple is good.

The skulls and bones for the Skull & Crossbones cards are all cut out and now I'm in the process now of trimming stock. It makes me really wish I had a giant paper cutter like I got to use at the College of the North Atlantic!

It's been a very productive evening. In addition to the cards, I'm making progress on my website and a new logo.

I'm getting excited for the St. John's Fine Craft & Design Fair next week and the week after. Last year I got to work a table for an evening and I saw some very cool stuff. I'm really looking forward to having a good look at all the sweet local art and products.

I thought I'd take a quick pause from the insanity and update.

The very first Rockets of Ruby card prototypes were put together tonight, and I'm very excited for tomorrow when the glue is dry and I can score them and snap some photos!

The design, Skull & Crossbones, was created in honour of my friend Shane Mills. I'll be sending him one of these first cards for his birthday.

In other news, I am planning to apply to the London College of Communication's BA (Honours) Book Arts and Design. I've been going mad lately putting together my portfolio.

P.S. I promised a link to the website once the "Coming Soon" page was up. Here you go: http://www.rocketsofruby.com/

One of the first things I have to do is get my website set up. Last night, after a little bit of research, I decided to go with InMotion Hosting for my domain registration and web hosting.

I was just on the phone with one of their sales people, who was impressively friendly, to confirm my account. I had to upgrade my account from "Launch" to "Power" in order to get access to osCommerce, since there will be a store on the site. Creating the online store had been one of the tasks on the horizon that made me sweat a little bit, but it looks like this service will make it fairly simple. I just hope it's capable of the kind of customization I want.

I'm not sure how many of you will be interested in seeing the "Coming Soon" image, but I'll be posting a link as soon it's in place anyway!
